LJ WoD game for Mortals
Players wanted for a "joe-schmoe" campaign.
System: WOD 1.0 - Mortals (Changeling Kinain and Werewolf Kinfolk may be allowed, but that's something to be discussed with any players who propose such a character.) Story will be character-driven.
Medium: Play-by-post (email) via Live Journal.
Setting: A small town in the northeast. The present. Nothing special about, although it's seen better days. There's an all-girls boarding school, an abandoned sanitarium on the outskirts, some old "Indian" caves, a candy store, stories about a haunted lighthouse, two cops, one stop-light, several tourist trap shops, many summer-rental homes and bed-and-breakfast places, miles of rocky-coast line on one side and thick forests on the other... and, of course, a statue of some guy knick-named "Fred" in the center of town.
Style: Dependant on the players and types of characters proposed. Mix of Bureau 13, Call of Cthulu, Deliria, Hunters Hunted, Magical Girl, etc... Focus will be on social interaction and skills, with some possible combat. Character devoted soley to combat (as thegamemistress might say) "will be at a severe disadvantage," and are therefore greatly discouraged. Mature content, some angst, so mature players over 18 only.

**note: if you find yourself crunching numbers to make your character as powerful as possible, this probably isn't the game for you. **

I found this on www.iusedtobelieve.com
.My real name is Tatyana and it means "fairy queen." I've always liked fairies and stuff, and so about a year ago my Mom got me a little present that had fairy dust and a little wand. Now, I'm 19 and I know it's not real, but I have a 6 year old brother. When he saw what I had, I figured I'd give him something to remember when he was older. I told him I was the fairy queen and that I directed all of the fairies to get lost teeth and give kids presents. When he lost a tooth, I sprinkled fairy dust over it with my wand. He believed me without question, and told me I was a really tall fairy. Now I am studying in England while my family is back in America, and he has more lose teeth and he calls me to make sure I'll send the fairies to take care of it.
I wonder what would happen if Spaz, or one of the other young characters, lost a tooth...

What to do, what to do?
We seem to have hit a slump again, these past several months.willowriversong
(this game's originator) and I have been e-mailing back and forth, and considering whether or not to relax the "You must play as many mortals as fae" restriction. lostsatyr
and I were thinking that perhaps it should be more like, "If you play more than one character
, at least one of your characters must be a mortal." We might get some more players that way.
What do you all think?
Another thing that's come up in conversations I've had with various people is that this sort of game is a little too free-form for them, or the sheer geographical scale of the game's area is daunting. I don't know what to do about the first one, but as for the second, maybe someone could put together a sort of "what's where" for the game, pointing out where there are high concentrations of characters (Millville, Wheaton Village, Rowan University, St. Bridget's School, etc.)? That way, a new player would have some idea of where to get started.
Any other suggestions are welcome! Current Mood: curious

*listens to the crickets chirping*
Gee, it's been pretty quiet here lately. :)
Just out of curiosity, who is still playing? If you're interested in playing and/or still able to play, please leave a comment here.
Thanks in advance! Current Mood: curious

Absence this weekend
I'll be attending Toronto Trek
this weekend (July 15-18), so replies for my characters may lag. Apologies, and I'll catch up when I get back!

is there room for another Satyr? Would an exotic dancer be too overdone or would an actress be better?

New player (yes, another one)
Hello everybody. I am sorry I have been waiting for so long before saying anything at all, the truth is the grey real life was taking me away from my conections with the Dreaming.
As everybody needs to play a dreamer for every single changeling I will start with a quick sketch about my mortal. I would like to play a 17 years old girl (prolly in her last year of high school). What she wants to do for a living is to be a circus artist (a trapecist, to be precise). She is stupdily shy when she is not in a stage or under the shelter of her well-known house.
For a changeling, I would love to play a satyr boy. A young musician from London who had decided the Merry Old England is too cold for him.
Yes, I need a lot of help...
Thanks for reading anyway

I'm a little sad. I finally decided to leave the chatroom-based RPG that I have been playing on for several years. My life has changed a lot and I don't have the hours to spend playing online. I haven't logged onto the site in weeks, but just now I took the final step of leaving about a dozen Yahoo groups dedicated to the game. I'm hoping LJ games are more my speed, though, and I am happy I found Epiphany. Current Mood: crushed

For the benefit of the player, could you explain what a "library lock-in" (referenced in this comment
) is? I'm sure that Claudia would know what it is, but I'm not familiar with the term.
Thanks in advance! Current Mood: confused

Let me introduce myself
Hello. You can call me Smithee. I have taken thegamemistress
up on her offer and I am checking out this group. I have been a WoD player and storyteller for over ten years now, and Changeling is one of my favorite settings. I was feeling a distinct lack of gaming and general glamor in my life so I decided to give you a try.
I have a few character ideas. I would like to remake a childling character that I had in a tabletop game back in '98, update her to a wilder. She's a unselee redcap, but unaffiliated with any house. Mostly she's interested in spreading (and becoming) urban legends. She has a very peculiar slang language as well.
I also would love to play a sleeper, maybe a absent minded ornithology teacher or folklorist, anything that would give me an excuse to do some research. Let me know what works best for the group you have going now.
As a side note I am a librarian and always willing to do some research for any gaming-related or even real life topic you have, to keep my hand in the game as I focus on cataloging. Current Mood: curious

Want to be able to post in "Epiphany?"
Since we seem to have some people who are just interested in following the game, rather than playing, I've put this post up.
If you want to be able to post in ctd_epiphany
, e-mail epiphany.mod @ gmail.com. Please note that ctd_epiphany
is reserved for In-Character
(or "IC") posting only - you must
have a character before you can post.
If you'd like some information on what sorts of characters get played in this game, you can join epiphany_ooc
(this community) and ask the established players, or e-mail the community maintainers at epiphany.mod @ gmail.com; any of us will be happy to help a new player out (see also, epiphany_mod
's advice on character concepts
Even if you'd just like to lurk and follow the game posts without playing, PLEASE comment here to introduce yourself - the comment settings for this post have been adjusted so that people who aren't part of the community can respond. Lurkers will be given the ability to read all of the posts in the IC community, but will not be able to post or comment (see above).

I want to wrap up the court scene, so I posted the first part of the last part. (ie, swearing in people, political scandle, etc).

New Player, Hopefully
I've been playing Changeling on-line for years and I'm interested in signing on here. I'm working out some character ideas and I wanted to check on potential interest...
Is there already an established bar in play? I was thinking about a mortal waitress who has been working in the same bar for about a year.
My Changeling idea is a Boggan theatre major specializing in stage management. Hopefully she might fit in with some of the college characters already in play. Is there a local theatre or a summer festival around too? Is that something there might be interest in down the line?
Thanks for your help!

Should what I want fia to do be an ooc comment and the other Player gets to decide how to implement it? I don't want to lock the possessed C haracter's player out of RP.
